Peace Prize is not so important – Khatami

RAHA/14/October/2003

Now all Medias focus on Iran about the freedom of speech and human rights. But it is not so important for the Iranian government and they don’t like to lead the country for the freedom. Iran's President Mohammad Khatami on Tuesday warned Nobel Peace Prize winner Shirin Ebadi (Writer& Lawyer) to "pay attention" to Iranian interests, calling her award "not very important".

The outlook of Iranian regime is same with dictatorship and majority of people in Iran want to change lifestyle and they don’t think so that can do it with this situation.

An irritated Khatami demanded: "Must I always send a message for everything," when asked why he had not responded to the award for Ebadi, a human rights lawyer, four days after it was made.
"The Nobel Peace Prize is not very important, the ones that count are the scientific and literary prizes," he added.
